My weekend and average photography skills

It was Saturday at dusk when I headed over to Barrio Lastarria to meet some friends for dinner. I just felt like taking pictures, and I know this blog is much more interesting to you folks back home when I can capture the essence that is Santiago. I'm still new here and I like exploring, so many of the things you might see here are the typical hangouts, and it's going to take me awhile to get beyond all of those. I've definitely learned a lot from my students as well, since it's not that hard to work restaurant/travel recommendations into a lesson for my benefit.
Here are a few things that I captured this weekend...
A slightly blurry Plaza Italia
I still do a double take when I see all of the tropical plants around here since we just don't have them in Chicago. I also liked the illumination of the church in the background.
Really quaint cobblestone streets
Passed by the churro truck to save room for dinner
Had some drinks at this place the other night

A reminder to take care of our planet

This is a little "board of wishes" that was out in one of the gift shops for people to sign. Hopefully everyone who has signed it (including me!) will see their dreams come true...

And finally, we enjoyed a great dinner at Gatopardo. Thank you Chile for letting me drink such delicious cheap wine.
Stay tuned for documentation of Sunday's trip to Valparaiso!
